Expo International, is this month’s sponsor for the DCC blog hop. We were sent beautiful trims, appliques and lace. I received beautiful Roses(appliques) and Scarlet lace and trim, I was in shock! I don’t use these colors. I’m a happy don’t take serious type of person and these colors (to me) represent serious. Holy crap batman….
This pocket holder was stuff in a box it’s made of canvas and has six already sewn pockets and a bamboo dowel.. Funny, tidbit I was doing some spring cleaning a while back saw these bamboo dowels and said what the heck and these, don’t need and threw out Opps!!! Had to make a mad dash to Home Depot DUH!!!).
Both photos show everything included in my project
Fabric Mod Podge is perfect for non sewers.
My material was cut into six (6) squares (5 x 4 1/2 ) and Mod Podge was applied to each canvas pocket before the material was applied.
One yard of Cotton Red & Black polka dot material (Hobby Lobby) covered each pocket, I am not a sew’er (ugh!) I am a gluer. Have glue gun will travel. This time I tried Mod Podge for Fabric and WOW it’s amazing.
I only used three (3) yards of Scarlet Red Lace. (As shown it was added at the top. middle and bottom).
I received two beautiful rose appliques and use Mod Podge Fabric to attach on top of material and lay across the pockets.
Recently, photos of these gorgeous roses applied to black high top tennis shoes. have been seen Pinterest.
Included in my package was also two semi braided trims from Expo International. I was sent Black & White. I cut the trim to go over the top of every pocket. The trim is very flexible to work with and really holds up after cutting. I took these trims to the fabric department at Hobby Lobby and the girl at the counter was in ahhh of what she saw. Beautiful, she said. We have nothing like these in our stores (too bad)
Unfortunately, my photos do not give respect to these trims. They don’t highlight the brilliant color they truly posses. Photos 1 & 2 shown below, there is a hint of lavender in the smaller rose.
FYI, the trims laid down perfectly on top of the material using Mod Podge Fabric.
Three black buttons applied with Mod Podge, I painted the dowel with black paint
